Preach Christ Ministry – PCM – was founded in 1986 after the vision God gave to its lead person Albert Onyango (Pastor). In the vision brother Albert saw as though there was fresh blood dripping from a high lifted wall. While amazed at the scene the dripping blood formed words “PREACH CHRIST TO THE POOR” and the accompanying scripture was LUKE 7: 22. Still surprised by this sight, a voice spoke reinstating the words “Preach Christ to the poor”!! From that time on Albert developed a heart of compassion both to the material and spiritual poor.

Brother Albert began ministering in Korogocho slums, which is one of the largest poor residential villages in Nairobi through witnessing of the love of Christ and also serving as a social worker in the area. During this time, a burden was born in his heart for children and as a result he signed in as a Sunday School Teacher Trainee. After completing the training under Child Evangelism Fellowship, he embarked on teaching Sunday school in his local church. From SST, brother Albert became a musician - playing trumpet in the church choir. Travelling for missions with the church choir, he began ministering as an evangelist in both mass crusades and person-to-person evangelism. His ministry devotion was identified by the leaders thus being elevated to becoming an associate pastor in a branch under Redeemed Gospel Church located in the above said slum village. It is while pastoring that the vision of PCM was expanded to its present form.

Departments:

Preach Christ Ministry has six departments, which serve as its arms of operation. They are as follows:

Preach Christ Center (PCC) – this is the church family department, which is also used as the training and command center of the saints for ministry to the world. Currently the church is meeting in rented premises, as we trust in the Lord of the universe to grant us a permanent premise. PCC today (May 2005) has a population of 57 adults and several children as we approach our first anniversary next month.

Rural Gospel Thrust (RGT) – this is an evangelistic department that focuses its efforts on reaching the rural masses of our people who are not privileged with the gospel meetings being held in the urban towns. In these meetings we work together with existing churches in every area where our crusades are held. This is so because we are not aiming at establishing branch churches under our ministry. Under RGT we hold both open air mass evangelistic crusades and person-to-person witnessing.

Touch Of Love (TOL) – this is a department that endeavors to put the love of Christ in action mainly to those who are destitute and materially unfortunate in the society. Knowing that our Master once said “the poor you will always have with you…” MAT. 26:11 (NIV), we also understand the admonition in the Word that “If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother.. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.” DEUT. 15: 7,11 (NIV). Under TOL we endeavor to assist the general material poor and those affected by the HIV/Aids scourge. For children affected and/or infected by the scourge we try as the Lord provides finances to rehabilitate them through a feeding program in their respective Nursery Schools. We are looking towards establishing an orphanage when funds allow in future. In this department we also endeavor to support the widows by giving them relief food supplies any one time that we are able to purchase or gather cereals from well wishers. TOL also assists the low income generating businesses by providing a soft loan program that revolves when funds are available for such a program. The loans are refunded without without interest.

Master’s School (MS) – this is a department that organizes and hosts conferences and seminars for the sole purpose of training the saints in Effective Leadership and Fruitful Discipleship. Since PCM is a missions focused ministry, we also use MS as a missions training program. Through MS we host both local and international ministers and ministries to build up the body of Christ for works of service.

Youth Aflame (YA) – this is a department of the youth by the youth to the youth. YA focus on reaching young people in the villages and institutions of lower and higher learning. Through YA we organize for programs like soccer tournaments, music extravaganzas, and social activities like garbage collection etc. During any of the above mentioned activities the youth are taught and encouraged to abstain from illicit social activities that would endanger their lives hence expose them to diabolic attacks like HIV/Aids scourge, alcoholism and drug addiction.

Gospel Express (GE) – this is a media department, which endeavors to publicize the messages preached under PCM and other ministry activities for the sake of reaching a wider audience. Under GE we produce message cassette and video tapes, publish newsletters and ministry quarterly magazine known as “The GOSPEL Digest”.

NOTE: All the above-mentioned departments are in operation but in their baby stage. No department is fully fledged as the Lord has shown it to the lead person!!
